In company circles, it is referred to as larry which comes from the name of the animal which modeled for the logo in a series of television commercials.. However beginning from 2000 the company abandoned the use of a live animal and a computer generated one is used instead..The oldest recorded instance of this being used was when Abraham Lincoln was issued a policy in 1861.. It is however likely that it could have appeared a lot earlier..

The origins of this pharmaceutical company date back to 1912 when Atlas chemical Industries was founded by the de merger from DuPont. The company suffered infamy in 2007 as a comment on the Wikipedia page claiming the side effects of one of its drugs was deleted from a computer shown to be registered to the company. Analysts have severely criticized the takeover of MedImmune by this company in April 2007 ( a reported 15.2 billion ) claiming the fee to be too high.
